WILDERNESS FIRST RESPONDER and
We are excited to partner with Mountain Rescue Institute to offer NOLS Wilderness First Responder and WFR Recertication courses.
(Double K Director talking here) Since the 90's I've held a WFR. I'd take the full course then re-certify 2 or 3 times before taking the full course again. About four years ago, I had the chance to retake a full course. I lucked into finding one of Mountain Rescue Institute's NOLS WFR courses. It was best instructing of the 20+ years of courses and recerts I've attended. When I recerted a couple years later - I quickly choose Mountain Rescue Institute and knew I wanted to bring them to Double K.

What is a Wilderness First Responder course about? A WFR "woofer" is a 9-10 intensive course covering back country medicine and what to do when things go south. It's the gold standard for trip leaders. Chances are if you spend a lot of time in the back country you either have one or know its about time to take the course. It's also very relevant for international travel and natural disaster emergencies.
